Overview

About this firm

A Valentine’s Day reminder from Heuer Fischer One of the most loving things you can do for your family is make sure they have high uninsured motorist (UM) and underinsured motorist (UIM) car insurance policy limits. If a catastrophic car crash happens, the right coverage can help financially support the people you love when they need it most. Under your Minnesota auto insurance policy, family members who live with you are covered by your auto coverage. This is called resident relative coverage. Your auto insurance policy also provides UM and UIM coverage. These coverages apply when the at-fault driver has no insurance or does not carry enough insurance to fully compensate you. In Minnesota, the minimum liability limits are $30,000 per person/$60,000 per crash. Many Minnesotans only carry the minimum required insurance coverage. In catastrophic injury cases, those minimum limits are often only a small portion of what the victim needs. That’s where UIM applies. Every Minnesota car insurance policy has a minimum of $25,000 per person/$50,000 per crash of UM and UIM coverage. You can opt to purchase more uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coverage. One of the most caring things you can do for your family is carry the highest coverage limits you can reasonably afford. Every case is different; consult an attorney. We are Minnesota-based personal injury attorneys. Free consultations. No fee unless we win. Wishing everyone a healthy, safe, and happy Valentine’s Day.

Practice context

General Personal Injury

Personal injury law covers any civil claim in which one party's negligence, recklessness, or intentional conduct causes physical, psychological, or financial harm to another. In most states, injured plaintiffs must prove duty, breach, causation, and damages. Personal injury firms typically operate on a contingency-fee basis — the firm absorbs case costs and collects a percentage of the recovery only if the case succeeds.
