We Offer Family Counseling and Education at New Beginnings

Family Education

With a “No Blame Approach,” New Beginnings combines family education and therapy to those who are indirectly afflicted with drug and alcohol addiction. Typically held after two or three weeks of a patient’s stay at our facility, our class and therapy sessions are open invitations to family members so they can understand more fully the disease that is addiction. Each afternoon, between Monday and Thursday, family members and patients address issues and concerns about all aspects of addiction and recovery, including topics such as the following:

• The difference between Enabling and Support.
• How do I deal with Guilt and Anger?
• What does Detachment with Love look like?
• How do I deal with Fear – My primary block to Love?
• What IS Co-Dependency? (How to break the chain of unhealthy attachments).
• How do I move toward Peace of Mind?

Chemical dependency is a family disease that affects the entire unit in one way or another; at New Beginnings, we treat family members as well as each individual patient, and encourage active participation in the recovery process. Each family unit has their own, separate counselors to speak to and family groups to attend so they can comprehend as much as possible as they go through the process.

*There is a $25 family registration fee due on arrival at the Reception Office for each patient’s family that covers all family members. Lunch will be provided.
